This cantata for the Feast of Saints Philip and James was probably first heard in 1740 because these four-movement pieces were only performed during Sunday afternoon services when the Apostle Day fell on a weekend. Three of the four movements are based on one of Fasch's two surviving settings of "Niemand kennet den Sohn".
