Du bist Christus, FWV D: D8~Edited by Brian Clark.
This four-movement church cantata was written by Fasch for performance on the Feast of St Peter and St Paul in the Schlosskirche, Zerbst. The tenor aria sets the dictum for the service, then a Da Capo aria for alto (which is re-used in an anonymous Passion setting from the court archives) continues with the "Thou art my God" theme; a bass recitative (with string accompaniment) adds more harmonic colouring, and the cantata ends with a similar text set to the familiar "Wie schön leuchtet" melody.
Performing set: Six scores, and a set of single parts. Extra parts are available.
