Overture in D minor, FWV K: d4~Edited by Brian Clark.
This nine movement suite survives in an autograph score. After the grandiose French overture, there are eight dances and arias (the latter including a duet for oboe and bassoon above tremolo strings, and a four-part fugue). There are no fewer than three minuets, although Fasch marks one of them to be omitted (possibly the most interesting of the three) and scribbles through the third. The Rejouissance movement has the strings in D and the winds in D minor!
Performing set: Score and a set of single parts. Extra parts are available.
