Symphonie No. 1~Michel Corrette's
Six Symphonies contenant les plus beaux noels francais et etrangers (Six symphonies based on the most beautiful Christmas carols from France and abroad) are scored for violin or flute, violin, viola and continuo, although the title-page suggests that they may also be played by larger groups during church services. The first of the set has four movements and, as well as revealing Corrette's skill in writing variations on popular tunes, also confirms his quirkiness!
