Johann Friedrich Fasch~~~~1971~4396~~
Concerto in D minor, FWV N: d7~Edited by Brian Clark.

This is one of Fasch's most striking and possibly among his more original works. Scored for pairs of flutes, oboes and bassoons with four-part strings, it opens with an arresting, partially unisoni ritornello. The wind instruments are particularly well exercised throughout the piece, the top bassoon often doubling the melody line in tenor range. The slow movement - a gentle Siciliana - is in the unusual key of F minor. The final movement returns to D minor and the slightly ominous character of the opening Allegro.

Performing set: Score, and a set of single parts. Extra parts are available.
