This
Missa brevis consists of only Kyrie and Gloria. The text is broken into sections, which are set as a variety of short solos and choruses for SATB, two flutes, two oboes, three trumpets and drums, strings and continuo. The flutes appear only in two short movements, and would originally have been played by the oboists. The trumpets and drums add sparkle to the first and last movements of the Gloria, the latter being a fugal exposition. The entire piece might be suitable for a Christmas concert or service, since it lasts only around ten minutes altogether.
