Johann Christian Röllig
Until recently much of the music attributed to "Röllig" has been assumed to be the work of Johann Georg Röllig, the long-time vice-Kapellmeister at Zerbst (where he worked with Fasch and Hoeckh), but Nigel Springthorpe has recently discovered that much of it was actually the work of his younger brother, Johann Christian Röllig, who was active around Dresden and Meissen.

Viola duet in C (Sp. 581)
This lyrical, three movement work makes a welcome addition to the Viola Duet repertoire. There is some double stopping, but it always involves an open string, so the technical demands are not high.

The work is also available as a Violin Duet, with the music transposed to G major.

Bassoon Quartet in E flat (Sp. 600)
This attractive, galant piece is also in three movements. The final Minuet bubbles along with some lovely part-writing and delightful suspensions.
