Johann Valentin Meder
Trio Chaconne
Johann Valentin Meder was employed by many courts and churches along the Baltic coast, and wrote a large quantity of music, including a Passion setting that has proved popular in recent years. This short movement is scored for two dessus (most likely oboes) with bassoon and harpsichord. It is in Da Capo form, the central section being in C minor.

Gott! Mein Herz ist bereit
The source material for this setting of verses from Psalm 57 suggests two line-ups: Either the work is for two sopranos and bass with four-part strings and continuo, or on can add two oboes and bassoon. The latter are written a tone higher (suggesting the use of low pitch French instruments) but, although they are actually often independent of the other lines, they are not indispensible.

Our edition does not include the woodwind parts, but we plan to produce a second version which does.
