Pierre van Maldere

Commissioned by Peter Whelan for performances by Ensemble Marsyas.

Van Maldere (1729–68) was born and died in Brussels; in the early 1750s, however, he was director of a series of public concerts in Dublin and while these symphonies were printed on the continent and dedicated to a French nobleman, it is entirely possible that they date from his time in Ireland.
