Georg Christian Lehms died of tuberculosis, aged only 33.
This 1712 cantata is a setting of a text by Georg Christian Lehms, who had become court poet and court librarian at Darmstadt in 1710.
It consists of eight movements: four recitative-aria pairings. The third aria is a chorale fantasy.
The solo soprano is accompanied by strings throughout, with oboes cued for the last movement only.
