Born in 1733, Juan Oliver y Astorga was a protege of Willoughby Bertie, the 4th Earl of Abington, to whom he dedicated two published sets: his Op. 1 (of 1767) consists of six violin sonatas, while his Op. 3 (dating from 1769) contains six sonatas for two flutes.
